The East Texas Food Bank kicks off its Summer Food Program, providing free nutritious meals to children.
Across East Texas, 75,000 children in 26 surrounding counties will lose access to free and reduced meals they depend on during the school year.

About 100 kids will attend the glass recreation summer camp in Tyler. Roughly 80% of them will take part in the summer food program.
“We try and find those areas that we can reach the most children and we’re hoping to distribute almost one-hundred thousand meals and every meal we distribute is going to be a meal that’s needed,” East Texas Food Bank CEO, Dennis Cullinane, said.

The East Texas Food Bank is kicking off its Summer Food Program.
According to the food bank, more than 75,000 children in East Texas depend on schools for free or reduced-priced lunch. So while school is out, kids under 18 can get a free meal through the food bank’s summer food service program.

The East Texas Food Bank released its list of locations where children under 18 can get free breakfast or lunch in the city of Tyler.
The ETFB says the meals will be nutritional and well-rounded. Kids will also be able to hang out at their sites to play games and get into some physical activity.
Children do not have to register or pick up a meal ticket to get their food. Meals will not be available on the weekends or on July 4.

More meals will be provided from the East Texas Food Bank thanks to a $50,000 donation from The Rotary Club of Tyler. All of the funds benefit the new “Tyler Rotary Repackaging Room”. The room will give volunteers and rotary members the opportunity to work on different projects such as repacking rice, beans, pastas and grains.
