Donate Time

The East Texas Food Bank, located in Tyler, very much relies on Volunteers to help us with our mission.  Over 10,000 volunteers logged more than 61,000 hours in FY2016, helping us provide 21.8 million meals.

How old do I need to be to volunteer?

We accept all volunteers over the age of 6*. We do request that groups of Elementary-aged children have at least one adult per 4 children. For Junior High-aged children, there must be one adult per 6 youths. There is no guardian needed for High School-aged individuals. *These ages are subject to change based on the Volunteer Coordinator's discretion.

Can groups volunteer?

Yes, groups are always welcome to volunteer with us!  We ask that you please call or email our Volunteer Coordinator Sharlette Jones to schedule a time for your group with as much advanced notice as possible.

What individual volunteer opportunities are available?

Volunteers can help in a variety of ways at the East Texas Food Bank and are always welcome.  Volunteer opportunities include: repacking rice, beans and pastas, helping pack boxes for our BackPack and Senior Box programs, and helping with administrative duties in the office.
