"Share The Love" with Altra Federal Credit Union
Altra CUAltra Federal Credit Union is participating in the "Share The Love" campaign.  The campaign allows voters to vote each day for Altra to win a $10,000 donation that will be split among five different nonprofit organizations, including the East Texas Food Bank.  The organization with the most votes will win an extra $15,000 to donate.  Click here to sign up and vote each day.
"Rock Out Hunger" with Rockett Queen
Rockett QueenJoin the band Rockett Queen for "Rock Out Hunger 2" happening Saturday, September 26th at Clicks Live in Tyler.  Doors open at 5pm, with the concert starting at 7pm.  Admission is $5 with two non-perishable food items that will be donated to the East Texas Food Bank.
Andy's Frozen Custard fighting hunger for ETFB
AndysAndy's Frozen Custard at 6106 S. Broadway in Tyler is hosting a "Buy One Get One Free" event on Saturday, September 19th.  From 10:30am to 11:00pm, customers can get a free item of equal or lesser value when they purchase one item at regular price.  Proceeds will benefit the East Texas Food Bank.  Customers are also asked to snap a photo or "selfie" enjoying their custard and post it to their social media.
Brookshire Brothers to "Fill the Truck" with milk for ETFB
Brookshire BrothersHelp Brookshire Brothers in Lufkin "Fill The Truck" with milk on Wednesday, September 9th as part of The Great American Milk Drive.  From 4pm to 6pm, stop by Brookshire Brothers at 301 S. Chestnut in Lufkin to make a donation of a gallon of milk that will go to the East Texas Food Bank.  Customers may also purchase pre-packaged "Brown Bags of Hope" with food that will be donated throughout the month of September.
Kids invited to whip up some fun
Broadway Square MallSimon Kidgits Club welcomes young foodies and their families to the Lil’ Chefs event at Broadway Square Mall on Saturday, June 13 from 1-3 p.m.
 The annual event, sponsored by Chick-fil-A, FRESH by Brookshires, Sonic Drive-in and Great American Cookies, Lil’ Chefs is a free culinary event that shows kids the fun side of food through multiple hands-on activities. Participants can visit various food stations provided by Broadway Square Mall eateries & restaurants, sample yummy treats, and even assist in preparing tasty treats. Kids can mix and make their own cheery limeade and decorate a cookie.
Kids are encouraged to help those in need by bringing a non-perishable food item to Broadway Square Mall to be donated to the East Texas Food Bank.  The event is free to Simon Kidgits Club members, and kids can join for a $5 annual membership fee.
Tyler Public Library "Food For Fines" event to benefit ETFB
Just cleaned under your kid’s bed and discovered a book checked out last summer? Did your joy at finding the long-lost book fade as you thought of the fine accrued over the months? Would you like to reduce those fines AND do a good deed at the same time?
The Tyler Public Library's "Food for Fines" event will be happening June 21 - July 2, 2015.  You can return overdue books, donate one nonperishable food item in exchange for each dollar owed in overdue fines.  Examples of items that will be accepted include soup, vegetables, fruit, gelatin, pudding, macaroni, rice, peanut butter, cereal, etc.
Donation must be taken to the circulation desk and not placed in book drop-off areas.  For more about the Food for Fines program, call 903.593.7323.
"Red Nose Day" to help raise money, awareness of needs of children in poverty in US and internationally
Red Nose Day"Red Nose Day", the popular #1 television fundraising event in the UK, is coming to America on NBC Thursday, May 21st from 7pm to 10pm.  The three-hour benefit will feature stand-up comedy, clever parodies, sketch comedy, music performances and films raising awareness about poverty.  Red Nose Day encourages viewers and participants to "have fun, raise money and change lives."  The money raised during the event will be split between domestic and international charities, including Feeding America.  For more information, visit www.rednoseday.org.
Panda Express "Family Day" will benefit food banks, including ETFB
Panda ExpressPanda Express restaurant locations in Longview, Lufkin and Nacogdoches will be participating in "Family Day" on June 8th. 10% of the sales at each restaurant will directly benefit the East Texas Food Bank.  The company plans to match sales of up to $500,000, totalling up to the expected $1 million donation.  Here are the locations in East Texas that are participating:

Longview: Hwy 259 & Hawkins Parkway
Lufkin: N. Brentwood Drive & Hwy 59 S
Nacogdoches: Stephen F. Austin Student Union
Help the East Texas Food Bank "Stamp Out Hunger"
Stamp Out HungerJoin the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and the East Texas Food Bank and "Stamp Out Hunger" on Saturday, May 9th.  Leave a bag of non-perishable items on or near your mailbox to be picked up by your local letter carrier.  Those donations will then be brought to the East Texas Food Bank to help your hungry neighbors in need.
Studio Movie Grill "Cans Film Festival" to benefit East Texas Food Bank
Studio Movie GrillThe new Studio Movie Grill in Tyler will be holding the "Cans Film Festival" on Friday, April 24th - Sunday, April 26th.  Get a free movie ticket when you bring 3 can goods or nonperishable items to the box office.  Studio Movie Grill's grand opening will be held on Thursday, April 30th.  Click here for more information and showtimes.
East Texas Food Bank named one of local charities benefiting from 2015 Ed King Golf Tournament
The East Texas Food Bank, along with several other nonprofits, have been named a beneficiary of the 2015 Ed King Golf Tournament.  The tournament will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at Pine Springs Golf Course.

Help the East Texas Food Bank and Walmart "Fight Hunger. Spark Change"

FightHungerSparkChangeWalmart has launched their "Fight Hunger. Spark Change" campaign, a nationwide initative calling on the public to take action in the fight against hunger.  Feeding America and their member food banks stand to benefit from up to $3 million in potential Walmart donations based on participation.  You can help in 3 ways:

1.  Buy specifically marked products at Walmart and Walmart Neighborhood Markets.
2.  Make a donation at the register upon check-out
3.  Take a photo of a group of 6 people and post it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #WeSparkChange.  This represents the 1 in 6 who struggle with food insecurity today in the US.  For each photo, Walmart will donate $10 to Feeding America.  More information

Natural Grocers opens in Tyler, bring your own bag and help fight hunger
Natural GrocersNatural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage is now open in Tyler at 4820 S. Broadway.  The new store promises to offer "exceptional customer service, nutrition and health information, the highest quality products at affordable prices, good jobs that support a balanced life, and minimal impact on the Earth's ecosystem."
The store also encourages customers to "bring your own bag" for purchases to encourage better environmental responsibility.  For each customer that brings their own bag, Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage will donate 5 cents to the East Texas Food Bank.
Marco's Pizza offers free pizza on National Spinach Day
Marco's PizzaMarco's Pizza, 2950 S. John Reddit Drive in Lufkin, is honoring National Spinach Day on Thursday, March 26th.  Customers can bring in a can of spinach and receive a FREE Medium Grilled Chicken Florentine pizza on March 26th.  The collected cans of spinach will then be donated to the East Texas Food Bank.
The pizza is a limited time menu item, and is made with garden-fresh baby spinach, sliced Roma tomatoes, grilled chicken, a blend of four cheeses, and a creamy garlic Parmesan sauce.  Click here for more about Marco's Pizza.

"Color Your World With Quilts" Show to benefit East Texas Food Bank
QuiltThe Quilters Guild of East Texas will hold their 34th Annual Quilt Show at Harvey Convention Center in Tyler March 20-21st.  "Color Your World With Quilts" will feature over 200 Hanging Quilts, vendors, demonstrations, Silent Action, Country Store, Old Fashion Bed Turning and a raffle of a quilt that benefits local charities, including the East Texas Food Bank.
Admission is $7.00.  Seniors 65 and over & children is $6.00.

"Fling A Disc" and help end hunger
Ice Bowl 2015Tyler Parks & Recreation present the 10th Annual "Ice Bowl" benefiting the East Texas Food Bank.  Players will "fling a disc" on Saturday, January 17 at Lindsey Park Disc Golf Course (1255 Spur 362W) in Tyler.  The registration fee is $25 for players over 17 years of age and $15 for players 16 and under.  Registration begins at 9AM with a tee time of 10AM.  Donations of food will also be take for the East Texas Food Bank.
