The East Texas Food Bank cares about children, families and seniors who do not have enough food to eat. Everyday, we work to feed people through a variety of programs and services.
The BackPack Program helps to alleviate child hunger by providing hungry children with nutritious and easy to prepare food at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.
The Kids Cafe and Afterschool Snack Program helps alleviate child hunger by providing hungry children with nutritious meals at times when other resources are not available, such as afterschool.
The Summer Food Service Program serves children in low-income communities who participate in free and reduced feeding programs during the school year.
Senior Servings is a program targeting seniors who receive meal assistance through a partner agency such as Meals on Wheels during the week, but face hunger on the weekends when these programs do not operate.
The Nutrition Education program offers nutrition education classes and information to low-income community members by partnering with community organizations and social service agencies serving limited- resource clients.
Working to ensure that all eligible East Texans have the knowledge and benefits of the SNAP, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program.
Distributes fresh fruits and vegetables to clients through partner agencies. In the past five years, fresh produce distribution has grown from 700,000 pounds a year to over 3 million pounds a year.
The Senior Box Program is a USDA sponsored food program designed to improve the health and nutrition of senior citizens. Participants receive a free box of commodities once a month.
